Summer is here, and that means we have a lot to look forward to at LaVida Studios. From performances, to social dance parties, and a whole lot more, we will be participating in a number of events this summer. Here are a few highlights we’re looking forward to and some dates to mark on your calendar.
Salsa and Bachata Party
On Friday, July 7th, LaVida Dance Studio will be hosting a Salsa Dance Party for all levels. This event includes not only an evening of dancing but also a drop in Salsa and Bachata class. The dance party will be held at our studio in Bellevue and feature music by DJ Yambu. Admission is $10 or free if you attend a class ($18).
LaVida at Derby Days Redmond
This year, LaVida Dance Studio will be featured in the Redmond Derby Days Parade on Saturday, July 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Derby Days is an annual summer festival celebrating Redmond’s community and all it has to offer. Participants will showcase dance moves from the Wonderland dance show as we walk and dance our favorite moves to the LaVida anthem.
Bite of Seattle Annual Festival
Bite of Seattle is an annual food and beverage showcase that features dozens of local vendors. This year, our dancers have been invited to perform on the Family Fun Stage during the festival! Our dancers will be on stage Saturday July 22 from 12-1p.m. and Sunday, July 23 from 12-1p.m. Located in the Seattle Center Armory, this event is great fun for the whole family.
Bachata Summer Bootcamp
If you’ve been wanting to try a Bachata class or get a feel for the dance style, our Bachata Summer Boot Camp is perfect for you! This course covers fundamentals of Bachata including basic steps, footwork, lead and follow technique, and more. If you don’t have time to attend one of our introductory four week series classes, this is the perfect fit for you. After this boot camp you will have the skills you need to join our level one and two Bachata classes on Wednesdays. No partner required!
Outdoor Salsa Marina Dancing
On September 2nd, we’ll be hosting our 4th Annual Outdoor Salsa Party at the Kirkland Marina Park under the roof of main gazebo. We look forward to this event annually, which includes an introduction to salsa class at 5:15 p.m. for just $5, and then an outdoor salsa dance party from 6-10p.m. for $10. This year’s event will include DJ Yambo with Salsa, Bachata, Chacha and merengue music, followed by DJ Ache. Join the Eastside Salsa Dancing Group to stay up to date with the latest event updates.
Free Trial Classes for Kids
Summer is a perfect time for children to try new things. If your kid is interested in dancing but you aren’t sure where to start, a trial class is a perfect opportunity. We offer one free trial class for kids ages 3-18 so they can get a feel for our style and see if it's a good match. Trial classes include Twinkle Star Dance ages 3-7, Top Hat and Tails Boys dance, Ballroom/Latin, Hip-Hop, Pop culture dance, modern jazz and more. Sign up here!
