FAQ

What can I expect from the Fine Arts Club Program?

You can expect an experience that is active, educational, and creative. The program will build self-esteem and social skills in a positive and encouraging environment.

Are lunches and snacks included?

Snacks and water must be pre-packed and brought to the club each day. There is no access to microwaves or refrigerators for Covid-safety reasons. Food may not be shared or distributed according to the CDC at this time. Please no nut products for those with airborne food allergies. No food deliveries to the studio will be accepted. Children will eat their snack at their personal station.

What are your safety protocols?

We have extensive safety and cleaning procedures and remain in strict compliance with the CDC and the WA department of Health recommendations. Our instructors have received their Covid vaccinations. All staff will remain masked. Masks for children ages 5 and under are optional.

Do you have discounts available for siblings?

Yes, sibling of the same family receive 10%-off their tuition for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th + children enrolled.

Do parents attend the class?

We will allow one parent to participate as a “volunteer” helper on the very first class or trial. There-after, the class is delivered parent-free for maximum benefits. Don’t worry though! We make sure to send photos and videos of your adorable children through email and our newsletters to you can keep up with their progress.

Can my child try the class before committing?

Absolutely! We want to make sure it is a good fit for your child before you enroll. The first trial day is only $25. If you enroll after the session has begun, your session tuition will be pro-rated to reflect when your child started.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Yes, all Fine Arts Club students must be toilet trained and able to use the facility with little guidance. Restroom breaks will be given throughout the 3 hours. If your child is still learning to use the restroom, make sure to send them in a pull-up to be safe.

Are you an accredited daycare or school?

No. We are licensed as a “Club for the Performing Arts.” Our club is only 3-hours long so that we do not fall under daycare jurisdiction. While our teachers have years and years of experience teaching young children, we are not licensed teachers. We teach performing arts and school-readiness in a fun and nurturing atmosphere that happens to take place in a dance studio.

How is your Fine Arts Club different from a preschool or daycare?

Our Fine Arts Club is a fun and active program that allows children to develop social skills and talents at a young age. They get active and connect with others with a small class size in a large studio space. Children participate in dance, yoga, and fitness classes while enjoying drama, art and music lessons. Each month the children will delight in a new and unique theme filled with imagination and creativity.

How old does my child need to be?

Children must be age 3 by the first day of the program and should have had successful experience in a non-parented setting like a daycare, Sunday school, or other type of program. Children must be fully potty-trained. Please note that we assess all of our students during the first few weeks and may make recommendations that best suit each child for their success.

Do I drop my child off or is this a parented class?

This program is non-parented, so you may drop off your child for the class. Parents will be invited to watch at designated times and will be notified in advance. We also make it a point to send parents videos and photos of their adorable children as they interact and learn.

What can I expect during drop-off? Am I able to stay

Our teachers are trained in early child development and are experienced in dealing with separation anxiety. You will be encouraged to say your good-byes and allow the teachers to take your child to class. If this is your child’s first time in a non-parented setting, it can take time for them to feel secure and comfortable. It is common for children to cry anywhere from 5-20 minutes the first 4-6 weeks. Our goal is to ensure your child feels safe, confident, and inspired and we have outlined our integration policy below. We will call you if your child cannot be settled and appreciate you trusting us with our process.

What if my child does not like the class, can I get a refund?

We are very confident in our program, but if for some reason it is not a fit for your child, we will place a credit on your account for other LaVida class and camps. Please note withdrawal must take place by the 15th of the month with written notice only. If notice is received after the 15th you will still be charged for the following month as you are taking a spot in the program. No acceptations. Due to the limit of space in each program, we do not offer refunds.

What does my child need for class?

Please pack along pull-ups, a change of clothes, and soft-soled footwear such as Robeez, ballet/dance shoes, or tennis shoes. Students also need a nut-free snack in a lunch bag with their name on it. Please put your child’s name on all backpacks, lunch bags, reusable cups, and pull-up diapers. We do sell smaller size dance shoes, as well as drawstring bags for your convenience at the front desk.

What if my child has separation anxiety?

It’s perfectly normal for children to have anxiety and separation issues when they first begin. Our teachers are prepared to help your child adjust to this new dynamic of leaving mom and dad at the door. Our teachers are well-trained in comforting your child and easing them into the class. If your child is still upset and feeling scared, our teachers will call you. Usually, within 3-4 drop-offs, your child will understand the routine and will be comfortable with attending class independently. After all, this is what we all want for them— confidence and growing independence!

How many children are in each Fine Arts Club class?

We accept 16 children into each class, and we have two teachers working with them. Our ratio at LaVida is one teacher per every 8 students. (Washington preschool ratios are 1:10)

What is the background of the teachers?

All LaVida instructors have been through extensive training and are background checked. Our Fine Arts Club instructors have years of experience working with preschool-aged children. They all have unique certifications, degrees, and diplomas, and are passionate about working with this age group.

Can we attend only one day per week?

Current program is offered as a twice per week program only!

Can I make up a class if I miss one?

All of our classes are full, so we do not allow children to make-up classes. Refunds and credits are not provided for missed class.
